L.I.F.E. In Tennessee

Love Is Family Education Learning In a Family Environment

Science Museum Information

This is the short condensed version of what you should do in order to go to Adventure Science, NASA in Huntsville, Sci-Quest in Huntsville, Pink Palace in Memphis, and over 200 other Science Museums in the US .  Chances are if you have a family of three, this will save you money!  The larger your family, the more you will save.   Please know that hours of research has went into this along with phone calls to places to confirm this works, several families (including mine) in the group has been there and used their membership cards at various places without any problems.

ALL Membership are good for one year from purchase date.

Print this application and mail it in OR call them at the number on the application to obtain a membership.  Family membership is $35 and includes 2 adults and all your kids (even if you have 18 and counting).  If you are a grandparent, membership for you plus one more adult and up to 4 grandchildren is $30.

http://www.amse.org/userfiles/file/Membership/AMSE-membershipbrochure.pdf

If you qualify for WIC, Medicaid, or a TN Benefit Security Card, you can obtain membership at the Adventure Science Museum in Nashville for only $20 for 2 adults and all your kids.  You must register in person and show proof to go this route.  See this link for more info:

http://www.adventuresci.com/default.aspx?section=joinus&title=specialized%20memberships&page=207

This $35 (or $30 or $20 depending on which you get) will get you into all these places at NO additional cost:

Pink Palace Memphis (Sept. 8th Field Trip)

Adventure Science Nashville (Jan. 12th Field Trip)

Sci-Quest Huntsville (Possible March 12th Field Trip)

NASA Huntsville (INCLUDES RIDES!!!) (Possible March 12th Field Trip)

PLUS over 200 other museums (some are really cool ones like these mentioned above)  Here’s a list to the included museums:  http://www.astc.org/members/pdf/PassPub0509.pdf

Confusing Things to Remember:

You can buy a membership like this at any of these Science Museums however the cost varies and goes up to $100.  This is the cheapest rate we have found.

Wherever you purchase your membership, you cannot use it to get in free within a 90 mile radius EXCEPT the place you bought it from.  This means if you purchase the one above as I suggested (from Oak Ridge TN), you can get into all these places mentioned for no charge.  If you purchase the one at Adventure Science in Nashville, your still good and can get into all these places.  If you buy one at Sci-Quest in Huntsville, it will cancel out NASA because they are within 90 miles of each other.

This membership does not cover add-ons that the museum sells such as IMAX or Planetarium, however the membership entitles you to a discount.  Many times the kids don’t miss this anyway because there is too much other stuff to do.

You also get a small (usually 10%) discount at the shops.

NASA rides (some are really cool!) are covered in general admission so these are covered with your membership.  Anything covered in general admission is covered with your membership everywhere!

Last Word

If you plan to go to any of the above mentioned field trips, or visit these places with your family – even just one place- you cannot beat this deal and it will save you money.  I know this can be confusing so if you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact the group for more info.  I can call you to explain it further or answer questions by email.

NOTE:  If you plan to use this membership to get in FREE at the Pink Palace Sept. 8th, you need to go ahead and get busy as it takes up to 2 weeks to get your membership card in the mail.  If you wait and cards don't arrive in time- it's okay!  Pink Palce will call Oak Ridge to confirm your membership and let you in free anyway.
